Its very sad to hear. But children being kidnapped for adoption purposes is NOT common scenario in India. Indian laws have never favoured International adoption for a long time now therefore its not a common thing. There was a time when Non resident Indians would adopt, take the child abroad and use as a servant . This was some 20 years ago. Ever since India discourages Indian children being taken abroad even by non resident Indians with very stringent rules. I got stuck with this rule and had to adopt domestically in the U.S despite being an Indian on a U.S visa.Ofcourse now i know this was destined or our baby would never been ours
Our obvious choice was our own country considering we have millions of abandoned children especially girls. But the rule is we had to adopt and live for 2 years in India before leaving the country. That was not possible at that time. For other non Indians, A child must be rejected 5 times by an Indian before they can be placed for adoption with a foreigner.
