independant adoption from India
I'm involved in an adoption support group in Ireland. We have had some queries from members about adoption from India and can't find anyone in Ireland who has 'done it' .
Do you have to use an agency? Would someone be willing to let me have details of the process or tell me where to go to find out? Thanks for your help

Go to the website of CARA, India's Central Adoption Resource Agency, at http://www.cara.nic.in/carahome.html. CARA is in charge of all domestic and international adoptions of Indian children.
CARA licenses foreign agencies to place Indian children; independent adoptions by foreigners are not allowed. There is a list of foreign agencies on the website, and there is one -- actually a department of the Irish government -- listed. You could work through that department to adopt from India. Sharon
