Independant adoption from India

What do we need to know and do about independant adoption from India?
Both my husband and I are US citizens but originally from India. Will independant adoptions go faster than if we go through an agency?
Will there be any legal hassels before and after adoption?

You will have to use an agency accredited by CARA, the Central Adoption Resource Administration, which is the branch of the Indian government that regulates adoption. You can see a list of American agencies accredited by CARA on the CARA website, at !Central Adoption Resource Agency.

I am not sure what you mean by independent adoption. In India, you need to go through an adoption agency that is accredited by CARA. Good luck.
