Information wanted on "new" intercountry adoption requirement
Hi! I'm hoping that there is someone who might have more information on a recent (10/06) new requirement for inter-country, non indian parents wishing to adopt.
We are currently #2 on our agencies list for a referral from a orphanage outside of Mumbai.
I received a letter from our agency, stating that there is a new government notice, requiring a "second clearance" from the biological mother. It would require an agent from the agency to track down the biological mother of a referred child, arrange to have her meet him and a government agent at a court house to witness her signature, again, relinquishing this child. As you can guess, this is extremely improbable. I havn't received much info. from our agency as to how this will effect our referral or post-referral paperwork. Has anyone heard of this? I would love to hear from someone with a recent referral, where they are adopting in India, etc.
Thank you!
