Fostering
Hi! My husband and I are currently in the process of getting our homestudy done and dossier prepared to adopt a little girl from India. Since I am an NRI, my agency told me I have the option to go to India and foster my daughter until it's time to bring her home to the US. I really want to do this. They said I would have to find an apartment or other living arrangement in India (Pune, to be exact). How do I go about doing this? Can I expect the agency to help me find a place (I forgot to ask her this when I spoke to her today). Any thoughts or advice - and is anyone else planning to do this? Thanks!

Pune living arrangements
Hi! We looked into fostering, too. But we have an older daughter who was already at home, so it wasn't feasible. We brought our second daughter home in April of 2005 from Pryidarshini Shishu Griha in Pune.
If the agency won't help-let me know. My cousin lives in Pune and has started assisting other families in the adoption process. She was so wonderful and helped us throughout everything! She was very emotionally invested in our little girl, and the status of the other children really upset her! She has stated repeatedly that she will help anyone adopt kids from India if she can. I'm sure she would be willing to do some groundwork if you need it. Good luck and let me know if you need her help. Kathy |

Kathy,
That's wonderful! Thank you for your offer. I did contact my agency and they said they would help with everything, but I am keeping your contact info at hand just in case. That is truly amazing that your cousin is so generous!

Yeah, Sejal is amazing! She was so moved when she went to the orphanage to visit Tara that she decided to get involved. She is working with Mrs. Dani to assist in helping parents with the adoptive process. Seriously, if you need help-just ask!

You will love it !
My wife was in India this year from Jan to April and was a great experience in able to be with our new son until all the paperwork was done. We were like as we had relatives in Delhi to help us.
Good Luck ! |

Mom of Two Imps - are you talking about Minal Dani?? That's who my agency works with - she's supposed to be helping me out personally in finding an apartment, etc.
What a coincidence!
