Any Advice
My husband and I have been working on adoption from China. The only thing we are waiting on is USICIS approval. Long story, but China is taking longer and longer (referral time of at least 12 months and increasing as we speak) and it is getting frustrating. We have a biological 3.5 year old son and would like the kids to be fairly close in age.
We were asked by a associate whose father is a high up Dr in India if we would like to consider adoption from India. He said it would be private and they would do everything on the India side but we would have to take care of things with the US govt. I have no idea where to even start. Everything we have done and learned is geared to China. We just want to add a daughter to our family. Any help is appreciated. |

I feel your frustration through your words, but I too heard China was becoming slower like other countries. I do not know that India would be any faster. I have no knowledge regarding private adoptions from India, but I would certainly like to hear about it too. I hope things work out for you.

We adopted a baby girl last year from India.
My advise is to ask your adoption agency if they have an India program. You have already established a relationship, and they have your paperwork already! Look online for more info. here are a few sites to check out: http://www.indiaparenting.com/articl...rt04_003.shtml http://cara.nic.in/carahome.html Good luck! |

Gosh, I'd be a little hesitant on doing a "private" adoption. I personally would feel better knowing an agency is handling things. We have a 2 1/2 year old adopted from China and are on the last stages of an Indian adoption now. I have been impressed by both countries. The wait is almost 100% the same now. (A little over a year with both countries) I would definately research things better before jumping into an international adoption privately. Michell
