My husband and I have started looking into adopting from India. We are both US Citizens (Indian Origin for me) living in MI. My mom is very interested in helping us go down this path and can help us with the paperwork from Chennai. But from what I read in this forum, it seems like going through US agency is the best way. Can anyone advice ? Also does anyone have experience with agencies in MI. Thanks Shalini |

Since there are too many rules/regs involving adoption, suggest that you go thru www.rkas.org (Raji Krishna adoption seva) and then send us a private email with specific questions. We are from Michigan. Best regards. CK Chalekode (questions@rkas.org) |

Congratulations on your decision to adopt. I would recommend that you start by going to the website for India's Central Adoption Resource Agency (CARA), www.cara.nic.in. There is a large list of approved U.S. agencies, at least one of which is located in Michigan. There is also a large list of Indian organizations (orphanages), more than one of which is in Chennai. Good luck!
