We have our home study report almost finalized & are plannning to do he rest on our own as we have family in Pune & Delhi.
Has anyone done this on their own & what was your experience?

1. Is it faster & does on have more control through a parent inititated adoption or going through the agency here, in the US?

2. What to look out for in working with orphanages in Pune and Delhi?

3. Any experience to share with SOFOSH (Sassoon) in Pune & Preet Mandir in Pune?........we've been told that SOFOSH does not work with parent initiated adoptions & that Preet Mandir is not clear on its policies. esp reg fees.

I take it you are NRI or PIO, because otherwise I'm pretty sure a parent-initiated adoption will be out of the question for you due to strict India adoption laws.

Beyond that, I've heard all kinds of things good and bad, about the places you mentioned. I'd post the query on the Yahoo group I-child for best results...
