Adoption in Punjab or Delhi

Has anyone adopted from Punjab or New Dehli? I would be interested in information about which orphanage you worked with, as well as which US agency has a program with that orphanage. Thanks in advance for your help.

We had a MARVELOUS experience adopting from SOS Children's Villages in New Delhi through Children's Hope International/Cascade here in the US. Our daughters came home March 2003. Feel free to ask any other questions you might have.

Hello! Below is the URL for CARA, the Central Adoption Resource Agency which oversees all Indian adoptions. On their page you will see a link for Indian Placement Agencies. This lists all licensed orphanages in India. While there are none in Punjab, there are several in Delhi.

http://www.cara.nic.in/carahome.html

Special Additions (Kansas) works with Holy Cross Social Service Centre in Delhi.
The Alliance for Children (Massachusetts) works with Welfare Home for Children in Delhi

Best of luck to you.

We're in the process of adopting from Delhi now and are using Children's Hope Intl/Cascade as well, out of Oregon. The orphanage our baby is coming from is Missionaries of Charity, founded by Mother Teresa. We've only recently been given our referral but it was very quick and Lisa at Children's Hope has been incredible. Overall the process has been much smoother than expected. The only caveat is my husband is an NRI so I believe that helps a lot with the process. Not sure what your situation is. Please feel free to contact me any time with questions. We're only about 1/2 way through this process. Thanks. Allisen

Allisen and others

Do you know about the Yahoo groups Ichild and Delhi child? I highly recommend both. Go to groups.yahoo.com then search for them in the adoption category, or contact me again and I'll try to get more accurate URLs.
