  • Nice! Sometimes people don't "get" the skeleton thing and think it's scary or morbid. I'm glad that you are helping him better understand that Dia de los Muertos is about remembering those that we've lost and reminding ourselves that death is a natural part of life. =)

  • IMO there is a world of difference between adopting healthy infants abroad and adopting older, traumatized, and/or disabled kiddos. There are few, if any, healthy infants and toddlers who languish in orphanages today with no potential same-country APs. This is something that adoption researchers have found. However, there ARE many countries where severe medical or psychological issues make...

  • I feel very troubled after a trigger lately. When I was seventeen I gave birth to a girl my parents placed for adoption. I had been date raped after drinking and doing drugs so my parents did not want to raise the child. A decision they really regretted later on. Giving the baby up was such a trauma for me that I went on doing drugs and ran away. I came back and finished my studies, then...

  • On my local news in the past two days: A ten year old has been arrested for murder. He went to visit his granddad who was a care taker for a 90 YO woman. The boy went into the woman's room and she scolded him for being in there. He pushed her on the bed, used her cane to choke her and punched her in the throat 3 times. She is dead--he is now in prison, charged as an adult with murder. When he...

  • Fees due at placement or full refund
  • by singlebe Last comment: 23 Oct 2014 07:15 AM
  • American Adoptions will refund placement fees if the adoption fails but fees are due at placement. We adopted through a local agency (not in your state, sorry) and our fees were due at placement. I think they may have been refundable if the adoption fell through but I forget what their policy was.

  • I would probably make sure that equal hours of her weekend are spent working on missed work or writing lines... missing 45 minutes of class means 45 minutes less of fun on the weekend
