  • Elaine, thanks for posting the link to the BBC News story. That is some fascinating neonatal research!! I've been in reunion with my son for almost 20 years...we reunited shortly after his 18th birthday. He shared with me a number of years ago how my voice usually has an instant calming effect on him, and how it's been that way since the first time he heard me on the telephone. He says that the...

  • Adoption after failed adoption...is it normal to feel this way?
  • by kara05kara Last comment: 8 minutes ago
  • I think you're normal. We had a failed match, and when we were told a few days later that we had been picked for a "baby-born" situation, I still didn't tell people. Which lead to a very weird moment at work 2 days later when I walked into the office, told people I got a baby yesterday, and that I was taking the next 6 weeks off! Do whatever feels right for you! • I'm still around. Maybe not posting as much as usual, but still here. I think, for me, I'm at a place where I just don't feel like posting as much. It takes a lot of energy sometimes, especially when you are prone to really dig deep into an issue and formulate a well-thought-out response, and I find myself needing a break from time to time.

  • Do you have a current homestudy yet? What state do you live in? Different states have different laws. I would start with a homestudy if you don't have one already. Good luck!

  • by rottymom Last comment: Yesterday at 07:31 PM
  • My daughter is nine and I finally decided I better start educating her...I bought the book "Before I was Born". It is christian based. The book is very detailed...and the first time I read it to her I did my nervous laugh and skipped a sentence. But I explained to my daughter I was nervous because it isn't something people talk about in open. So I have read it a few times since and...

  • Signing Time available by Googling 'signing time'. I've found the book "Teach Your Baby to Sign" from one of my homeschool supplies ( Timberdoodle Co - Homeschool Curriculum, Homeschool Program, Resources, Education, Homeschooling Materials & Books ) and they also sell the Signing Time DVDs for $21.00. Timberdoodle also sells stickers for teaching sign.

  • The subsidy is tax free. You do not pay taxes on any of it. It is similar to the foster care stipend you get as a foster parent. And you do not claim it ad income on your tax return.
