Hi-
I have a friend who, German born in 1952, was adopted in 1958 in Germany by parents wed in Germany in 1957 - the father was an American citizen & I assume his wife became one as well.
The friend has been living most of her life in the US & is now questioning whether she is an actual US Citizen.
Any help or direction you could provide would be most greatful.

However, your German-born friend needs to apply for US citizenship as an adult. Had her parents taken care of this before she became 18, she would not have to do so now. Encourage her to apply as soon as possible. As matters stand, she does not qualify for most of the benefits that come with being an American citizen.
