Contact at New Orleans BCIS
Linda:
The best thing for you to do is get in your car and go to New Orleans. I am about to make the trip myself (five hours). Their telephone number for inquiries was disconnected and when I did find a telephone number for the office, the person told me the department handling I-600A's will not take phone calls. By the way, I am in my fourth month of waiting for myI-600A to be processed by this office. I've called 2 US senators offices, wrote the district manager of the New Orleans BCIS office, emailed the BCIS "help" email address and called the toll free help line who issued an inquiry letter that will take 30 days to process. No one from BCIS has yet responded to any of my inquiries. The last resort is going down there. I was told they may or may not be able or willing to help me once I arrive at the office. Soooooooooo........... good luck. |

Actually, we have received our I171h.
So now we and no one at our agency is sure what we should do.
We have considered another trip to NO-CIS, yet held out hope an answer could be found another way. Thanks for responding and hope you come home with your I171h. |

Linda,
according to my agency, in this situation you would have your home study agency provide an original amended home study just saying that you will be adopting two. They say to keep that one in a sealed envelope marked "only to be opened by a Consular officer or INS" for you to take when you go abroad for your children AND a second original amended home study to be mailed to INS with your original Form I-171H. INS will issue you an amended approval notice and return your original Form I-171H to you. I would put a cover letter with it. I would also call the New orleans office before sending. The phone number is on the field office page of USCIS at http://uscis.gov/graphics/fieldoffic...ns/aboutus.htm or call the national number listed there to get the correct number if that isn't it Good luck! |

Telephone Number New Orleans
The telephone number listed for the New Orleans office on the BCIS web site is the one I am referring to that is disconnected. The toll free number help line will give you the same one. If you find one, please let me know. Good luck..
