iso half brother born in mid to late 60's illinois
I was born in St. Francis Hospital in Peoria, Il on 6/22/63 and adopted through catholic charities in Springfield, IL. in August 1963 I have met both of my biological parents and have heard from another family member that my birthmom had another son after me and placed him for adoption also. The story we have is that she had an affair with a married man that was some sort of politician that may have had red hair. He wouldn't leave his wife so she put this child up for adoption also. My birthmothers name is Karen Carmody. I have no idea who the polictician was. I no longer see either of my bio parents, too much of a change for everyone involved I guess! Kind of a big let down for me, but at least I know now. But I would love to meet my half brother if he is willing. I am hoping she may have used the same procedure as far as the Catholic Charities adoption service. So if you know any male that was adopted in Illinois in the mid to late 60's that may have red hair?? (who knows!) Please contact me. Also my birthmom was in a home for unwed mothers when she had me, if she went back to the same home when she had this child maybe some other birthmom from the same home is reading this and recognizes her name from the mid to late 60's who was there with her. Please let me know what year you were there so I can narrow my search. Thanks so much.
Thanks Mark |

I do not have much information regarding my adoption. I do know that I was born in Peoria, Illinois in January of 1969. I was under the understanding that my mother was young although I do not know for sure. I am not sure of the adoption agency that was used. I have been raised in the surrounding Springfield area.

If you were born in 1969 my birthmother would have been 25 years old in 1969. Do you have any knowledge about either one of your birth parents? I was lucky that I was adopted through Catholic Charities. It took a couple years but I finally did get the information that I had been looking for. My adopted father died when I was only 4 and my adopted mother wouldn't give me any info at all to aid in my search. Let me know if you know anything about your birthparents.

The only information I have is that my biological grandparents possibly owned a flower shop and autobody shop. That is all the information I know. Thank you for replying.

Hi Bill
I'm not sure where she would have been at the time. I have met her but we no longer see each other so I can't ask her. I heard about the second child after we were no longer seeing each other. I wish I could find out more info. I am waiting for the Catholic Charities that handled my adoption to get back to me and let me know if they can give me any more info. on any other adoptions she may have used them for. I don't know if they can tell me that or not. The only specific info I have is that the bio father was some sort of Illinois politician in the 60's that had red hair. They thought he was married at the time and didn't want to leave his wife so my bio mom gave the baby up for adoption. I heard this info from my bio mom's cousin. I don't really want to ask for any more specifics because I haven't talked to her for quite some time but I may have to. I thought I would try to locate him on my own first. Do you have red hair?? Ha-ha!! Just asking, I thought maybe the son would have red hair since the bio father did. If you have any info to share about your adoption maybe something would click. I was born in 63 and she was 19 at the time of my birth. Thanks Mark |

brother
hi Mark,
I am posting for my husband, as I see when he posted, he did not really ask any questions. Do you happen to know yet when your brother was born? My husband was born in April of 64 with a strange circumstance to his adoption, and he was also adopted out with the name of Mark (at his adoption, his name was changed to Bill). He has brown hair with a red cast to it( just to mention). Please email me back. I hope all is well with you. Thank you, Laura (Bill's wife) |

hey reno,
I have some new info on my hubby so here goes..He was adopted through Covanant Childrens Home in Princeton, Illinois, 9-1-69. He was delivered at Anderson Medical Building in Chigago. His hair is a reddish-brown, and he has green eyes. Not real curly, but kinda. The front page is covenatly missing on his "newborn record". If this sounds familiar to you or anyone, well, ya'll know what to do. Thanx for reading my post. Liz |
