PLEZ tell me about this "info changing" stuff

Hello all!!!, I have been actively posting, or coming here for a few weeks now and I have heard MORE AND MORE about this "changing the info" stuff, like somebody thinking that their b-day is one day and it ACTUALLY being on another day...
DID THIS HAPPEN IN ILLINOIS????? I was born in 1978 in arl hts. Il and I am like wondering if BY CHANCE... my mother tried to look for me but had a diff "DATE" than me...
Maybe this is just me with "WISHFUL THINKING" or being in DENIAL about the fact that I have been REGISTERED with the STATE and ISSR for like SEVEN YEARS and have heard NOTHING. but hey ya never know....

changing info.

I received my non-id info. from the Illinois Registry, the info. they were able to release to me off my original birth certificate. All the info. I originally knew matched, birth date, time, etc. The only thing that didn't match was the hospital. I talked to the woman who runs the registry, very nice woman by the way, and she said that most of the time the date of birth has NOT been changed - at least in her experience. I think much of that depends on the agency your b-mom dealt with. Now, I was born in 1956 - and my stuff seemed to be accurate. Don't panic - all may be well. Have you sent for your non-id either from the state or from the agency through which you were adopted????? It certainly is a place to start.
The very best to you.

thats kinda funny you say you spoke to a VERY NICE WOMAN at the Il registry, was it the "springfield, 'vital records' " or what ever its called office????
I TOO: SPOKE TO A EXTREMELY KIND WOMAN there!!! VERY much so!!! anyhow, were you able to get the non-identifing info BECAUSE your b-mom had RELEASED that much info???
I know, when I registered that was one of the OPTIONS, that you can release EITHER IDENTIFYING or NON-IDENTIFING INFORMATION to the other person if they TOO REGISTER...
It'd be really great to talk to you... thanks so much for the INFO..
By the way where r you from in IL... I am from the Northwest suburbs of chicago..
Now Isn't this intresting..
In my adoption, there was a man who was kind of like a "liaison" between the hospital and the adoption agency, and he met with MY BMOM... well it turned out that this man belonged to the SAME CHURCH that my ADOPTIVE parents did, and they became GREAT friends, he BAPTISED ME, his daughter became myBEST FRIEND when I was a kid, ect. ect. Me and his daughter had b-days ONE DAY apart so our familes celebrated them together..
NOW, I CALLED this man about TWO weeks ago, to see if he could help like tell me WHAT place has my records now or to see if HE can find my agency, cause I cannot....ALSO, after learning from BOTH of my Aparents that they are SURE he met my bmom, I asked if he met her and remembers anything...
Do you know that he told me He DID meet with her, MORE THAN ONCE, and he says HE REMEMBERS NOTHING about her..
ME and MY ADOPTIVE parents DON"T BELIEVE THAT FOR A SECOND... you know...he did my older brother (adoptive) adoption too and met his bmom too... YOU 'D REALLY THINK that those two adoptions would STAND OUT IN HIS CAREER!!! he saw us grow up... AND he met our bmom's... for gods sake he BAPTISED ME!!!!!! Come on buddy!!! I DO NOT believe him, if its a matter of ETHICS he could just tell me that you know??? Well my adad... he used to play pro-baseball.... and this man was a HUGE CUBS fan... so my dad is gona take him to a game, sit up in the "boxes" ect, and try to ask him AGAIN, about this subject!! haha, but
anyways, if your from the area I am, I am going TONIGHT to a meeting, "truth seekers in adoption" and I went like 8 yrs ago ITS A GREAT help./..
have you found who your looking for??? Well this group meets the LAST monday of EVERY month at a church in DOWNERS GROVE.
take care
beth

re: non-id

Dear Beth,

Oh my - what a story. First, let me fill you in on my "luck". Yes, the woman I talked to at the Dept. of Health is very kind and helpful. Ok, IL law now allows you to request the non-id info. from your birth certificate that is able to be released - it has nothing to do with your b-mom registering. On the Illinois Adoption Registry site there is a form you can download to request this info. Since you're already in the registry, your file should be started and she should be able to fill your request rather quickly. Depending on when you were born will depend on how much info. they release to you. I was only able to find out my b-parents ages, and my place and date of birth - but that was more info. that I had for 47 years. Also, try dealing directly with the agency that handled your adoption rather than the go-between. My guess is, he is still feeling bound by confidentiality and will be very reluctant to release any info. about your b-mom. The agency should have a way of releasing to you more complete non-id info. Catholic Charities did that for me - and I now have pretty complete descriptions of my b-parents, their families, etc. Hope the support group helps. The very best to you.

Sincerely,
MKW

P.S. Who did your dad play for?????

re: non ID

Hi Beth & MKW,

Where did you send your request for the non-id? It sounds like you received information from 2 places. My mother was also adopted through Catholic Charities.

Thank you,

Liliana2

Illinois Adoption Registry and CC

Hi Liliana,

Yes, I did send to two different places. For the non-id info. off my birth certificate I sent to:

Illinois Adoption Registry and Medical Information Exchange (IARMIE)
Department of Public Health
Division of Vital Records
535 West Jefferson Street
Springfield, IL 62761
(217) 557-5159 or toll-free in Illinois (877) 323-5299
Website for downloading forms: http://www.idph.state.il.us/vital/iladoptreg.htm

You can download their info. from the website, fill it out and follow all the directions and send it in.
I also received pretty lengthy non-id from Catholic Charities in Elgin, IL. This time, I made a phone call, asked for the person dealing with post-adoption issues, requested their intake form for my non-id info., filled it out and sent it back. It took SEVERAL months for me to hear anything from Catholic Charities, but with a little persistance, I received my info. Now, I'm at the stage of trying to decide if I want to do the full search.
Hope this helps a little - ask again if this doesn't make sense.

Sincerely,
MKW

Just remember, to recieve the non-identifying information from the certifiable portion of the original birth certificate - you must either be already in the Illinois Adoption Registry & Mecial Information Exchange (IARMIE) or complete the forms to register. There is no cost to register if you complete and agree to exchange the medical questionnaire as well as any other information you want to exchange. And you are correct that if you are already in the IARMIE it should only take about 2 weeks to get a response. The time frame if you are a new registrant can take about 5 weeks at this time, hopefully soon we will be back to being able to respond within 2 weeks to all requests.

Thank you all so much for your FEEDBACK, and sharing your experiences...
MKW.. sorry it took me so long to reply..
He played on the Cubs, Yankees, Pirates and the Giants, but the Cubs for the longest... Also the cubs were the first team... so it was A WHILE ago.. haha...
72-80 and then 82 to 84 I think he was on the cubs, and he retired with the Giants in 91...
I WAS YOUNG back then... so its a bit foggy, HAHAHA...
I heard from a woman who told me that you can get your birth moms NAME from the ADOPTION DECREE... is this rue...
Me amom ALWAYS told me she had the decree and as soon as I learned this info... SHE SUDDENLY DID NOT... WOW it was WORLD WAR 3 at my house, last week... NOT FUN at all..
does anybody know if I can like "FILE" to get a copy of the decree.. I guess probably not huh...
I was told that legally the b moms name had to be on it unless of course the agency appointed a GUARDIAN... in which case I the BABY would STILL be 'listed' as "BABY GIRL ______" with my b moms last name... is this TRUE>>>>wow!!!
thanks again!!

My birthdate was correct - the only thing that was different was the hospital.
