Age 57 and just found out I was adopted, though I suspected, but thought I was crazy for even thinking it! Want to find birth family for medical background. I don't want my children or grandchildren to wind up with a medical problem that might be avoided if they could only know to watch for it and take precautions. girl_110949@yahoo.com Born Nov. 9, 1949, or so I was told. Now I question everything! Louisiana, somewhere in or around the New Orleans area I'm not angry about having been given up. They gave up *a* baby, and I don't take it personally. I had a wonderful family who loved me more than any child was ever loved, and I want my birth family to know I'm not angry. I need my medical history, though, so please, if you gave up a child around November 1949, and if I could be your daughter, or the daughter of your parents, please contact me with medical info. Any info would be appreciated. People keep coming up to me and talking as though they know me, and when I say I'm not that person, they think I'm kidding. I saw my double when I was 11 or 12, and also about 15 years ago. I mean I thought I was looking at myself, only I was unable to get to the person to talk with her. I suspect I have at least a sister who lives near me, or did until Hurricane Katrina, and she might even be a twin, but I don't know for sure. Hope to get info somehow. Thanks for listening. girl_110949@yahoo.com |

Just curious....
I am trying to find my biological father and have a louisiana birth certificate. Just wondering what yours looks like, if it is amended, and if you have an original?? I have many questions about mine.

My number in the upper right corner has -D behind it, meaning duplicate. I got it just before grammar school, and was told that the original was lost in a fire at vital records. Don't know if that is true or not.
It does not give birth weight or length, though I thought I saw that somewhere, sometime. It's not on the copy that I have, though. If you send me a copy of yours (feel free to blacken out what you don't want me to see), I'll let you know if it looks like mine. My number is only four digits, besides the -D, and I was born in 1949. Do you live in Louisiana now? Do you need for me to check anything for you? Don't know if I can wind up helping anyway, but I can look through phone books and such at the library or maybe other similar tasks. I'm handicapped and don't get around too much, as we lost a car to Hurricane Katrina, so I'd have to make arrangements with my husband for me to have the car. I take the car sometimes to do research, so let me know if you think I might be able to help. I'm in southeastern LA, in a suburb of New Orleans. Are you nearby? girl-11-09-1949 ... |

I live in Memphis, TN now. Mine does not give birth weight or time. It appears to be the one filled out at the hospital. What is interesting is that the hospital that is listed is where my dad (that raised me) was working at the time as a lab tech. It appears by his handwriting that he dated it for my mom. Her signature appears to have been altered. There is a birth no. in the right hand corner and then there is a 3 digit number handwritten on the left side. I wish I could figure out what that number represents. I have requested the Long form version of my bc but never been given one. Also, I have one bc that has a man's signature underneath the registrar and physician signatures. When I requested a subsequent copy the one I received was with the signature omitted???? I believe that the man's signature is my biological father. I just need to figure out how to get that lower portion because I believe that gives the paternity information. Another thing that stands out is that My date of birth is 2/1/64 and the certificate was not filed with the state until 2/17/64. Does yours say "certificate of live birth" "record valid for birth only"? Thank you for your kind offer to help search. I was born in Ouachita Parish supposedly. I would like to know if there was a birth notice and if there was a notice in the paper for adoption and/or a paternity acknowledgement. Any help would be a blessing! I will see if I can scan my bc to send to you. Have a blessed day
