Exclamation I stumbled on my birthmother here tonight

Well, for some reason this evening I decided to do a lookup of what I believed to be my birthmother's actual name on the web. I have searched for this name many times in the past, it is fairly unusual and has a tendency to bring up various rock groups and other mismatches, never anything resembing a woman who could be my mother.

I am over 40 now and have never persued my birthparents actively... that tells you something right there... maybe I don't want to know... but anyway the web is so easy why not do a little checking.

To my surprise, tonight, lo and behold my birth mother has added a page for me on adoption.com. Yes it is me.... I know the info is correct, the date, the place- her name and even the fathers name is there. The ethnicity of the fathers name surprised me given my appearance.

I am experiencing a tremendous level of fear and anxiety, as well as a deep sadness. My name was Emily.

Wow!

I'm up late and wanted to offer some support. Don't know any great words of wisdom to help right now.

Just remember to breathe....and it'll get you through the anxiety. Sit with this awhile until you feel you can pursue it further. A new chapter is beginning...but it can never erase where you've been.

I always believe things happen for a reason. What an amazing story. Good luck with the rest, whatever you choose that to be.

Your reaction is understandable - so many emotions, feelings, almost like a numbness.

Take your time as you process this information. Finding your birthmother is totally overwhelming - your life will never be the same again regardless of whether you go further down the track with this information.

I guess the big question is where to go from here.
Best Wishes to you.

I just wanted to add my support for you during your search. I know when I found out my birthname was Elizabeth I was overwhelmed with emotion.

I know that this is an anxious time for you but just take it slow and you can get through it. When I found my bparents it seemed like I was bombarded with too much info all at once. I didn't take things slow enough.

Good luck!
