Hi, I just recently found out that I have an older half sister out in the world somewhere. Her birth mother's parents (her bio-grandparents) gave her up for adoption. My question is, where do I begin to find out about her? I would love to be able to find her, but I don't know if she even knows she was adopted or if she would want to know any of her half siblings. There are 4 of us plus her. She was the only one that I was told about that was adopted. I have information on her birth story and my dad even gave me the name of her mom. But this all happened in 1969 and the laws are alot different now. Since I am not a full biological sibling, I have been turned away by many people but I refuse to just let it drop. I am determined to find her. I won't just invade her life because that is just so wrong, but I am very curious to know if she is alive and well. If anyone can please help me start a search, I will be FOREVER greatful. I know where the adoption agency was but not exact dates or spellings of names. PLEASE Help........ I am sorry that I didn’t respond sooner, the last couple of months have been very hectic.

Anyway, I’m surprised that none of our comrades here have responded.

I’m not real experienced at searching but I’ll try to help any way I can. Tell me, have you contacted any other services. If you have, be careful, there are people out there who will try to use your desire to find someone for their own gain at your expense. That said, don’t give up!
My advice is to post your story on as many adoption forums as possible. Try to find people called “Search Angels”; from what I’ve read on various sites they truly are “angels” in disguise. I don’t know how else I can be of help, but if you need someone to bounce ideas off of e-mail me at Drgnrdr451@excite.com.

I can tell you this; I was informed of the fact that I had been adopted by one of my birth siblings. I don’t resent her telling me, I don’t think that she “invaded” my life. In fact I believe that she has enriched my life. So, don’t get pessimistic about your search, and don’t ever think about giving up. It took my sister twenty years to find me, but she didn’t give up and I am glad that she didn’t.

twstdcat, don't give up. I know you're angry and you have every right to be. Just don't give up. Before my sister found me I had one brother - he was my adopted brother, but I didn't know that. Heck, I didn't know I was adopted. Now I have three brothers, including the adopted one, and five sisters - Christmas is going to become quite expensive!

You'll never know why they didn't try to find you until you find them. It is just possible that not all of them know about you. That was the case in my birth family. And the ones that did know didn't want to upset the bmom by finding me. That is until my older sister decided it was about time to bring the family back together. My birth mother has since thanked her for going against everyones opinion.

I was under the impression that Cali was so progressive - but they're still in the stone age with the rest of this nations adoption laws.
