Me and My husband live in Houston, TX. Our Neice had a baby boy about 6 months ago. When he was about 2 weeks old he was taken away and put in foster care. They live in Iowa. I just found out this evening that the baby is being placed in with the father and paternal grandparents (they all live together). To give a little background on the father... He was arrested when my neice was about 7 months pregnant for beating her. Now how can the judge place a baby in this family. The baby is suposed to be placed in this home on Friday. We would like to try to adopt this baby. The mother has told us that if we were able to do this that she would sign over her rights to us. I guess what I need to know is- Is there anything that we can do and where do we start? Can anyone please give me advice? Thank you!!!!

I have been away from the forums for a while and just read this thread. It may be to late but here goes. Call the case worker of the children right away the mother should have all the information for you. I hope that everything works out for you.
