Henry - from what I understand, either both parents must travel to sign the paperwork and pick up the child, or the parent who cannot go must sign a power of attorney and have their signature notarized.

No, both parents do not have to go to Guat. The adoption can be finalized in Guat. if both visit, but this also depends on your states requirements. Both of us could visit, but our state requires "re-adoption" anyhow, so there is no benefit in visiting for us; although, I am going down next week. That's the main reason we chose Guat. My hubby cannot travel outside of the US, as he is not a US citizen and only holds a green card. Most countries require both parents to travel, but not Guat.
Hope I didn't confuse you. Good Luck!!! Michelle |

Henry,
In Guatemala neither parent has to travel or visit...you have the option of using an escort. If you decide to travel, only one parent is required to go. Good Luck, Becky |
