PGN survey!!!!going crazy!!!
I posted earlier about PGN and didn't get too many bites. I was wondering if people could share their experiences. We think we have been in for a week or two and everyone keeps telling us we will have him by xmas. So, I was wondering:
What is the shortest anyone has been in PGN? What is the longest anyone has been in PGN? so I can get myself a nice "window". Also, anyone ever work with attorney Zulma Subillaga? We have heard that she is really good and knows a lot of people and we are hoping that that will work to our advantage. Best of luck to all being held hostage at whatever step in the process. May we see our babies soon in our homes. Oliversmom |

Hi Oliver's Mom! Boy, do I know how you feel. We just heard on November 8th that we are out of the PGN!!!! We couldn't be more thrilled, and I felt just as you do while we were waiting. We went into the PGN on October 17, so it was 17 business days. I haven't heard of it being much quicker than 15 business days. Unfortunately, I have heard of people being "kicked out" of PGN for problems with their paperwork. The variable in that case seems to be how long it takes the attorney to get the problem corrected, and get the paperwork back in to the PGN. The good news is that birth certificate and passport doesn't seem to be taking longer than 15 days!! We are very much hoping to bring Kyle home for (or on) Thanksgiving! Best wishes to you for a Christmas with Oliver! Ajilla

Olivers mom,
I am not to sure on how to help you as I am fairly new to this forum and I still dont understand all the lingo. I really dont understand PGN or exactly how it works. I talked to my coordinator on thursday and I belive according to what she says the rest of our process is that we are now in PGN. She said as long as everything goes alright and there are no problems we should be traviling in 5 weeks wich is the week befor Christmas. I dont know if that helps you or not but I will say a prayer for you that your baby will be home for christmas.

Oliversmom,
I wish I had better news for you...our case took almost a month in PGN, and we did not have to redo any documents. Then with birthcertificate and passport, that took another month total. Hopefully, your case will go quickly through PGN, and now that passport is a bit quicker, it is possible you will be able to bring him home before Christmas. The only downside to all of this, is that many many people in Guatemala take vacations throughout the month of December into January. Things don't officially shut-down, but there is definitely a slow-down. I hope your case gets through before any of that happens. Good Luck and I will keep you ALL in my thoughts and prayers! thank you to all who responded to my urgent plea!!!!
To all who responded,
Thank you very much. I feel like I have a ray of hope that is greater than before. In my mind I was going to be happy to get him in Jan. It sounds like if we are fortunate we really could have him by xmas. I hope for all of you entering or in PGN that all goes swiftly for you, no errors, no grouchy workers etc. Our facilitator comes back from G. today and will have updates and pics for us. I think I should have a better idea of the case by the end of the week. Heather |

I'm new to this board, and I kind of stumbled on this site by accident. When I saw the thread relating to the PGN, I had to stop and register, because I wanted to post my husband and I's adoption story (thus far), and the mess we are in. We are trying to adopt a little girl from Guatemala named Maria. We sent our dossier down to Guatemala in March, 2002, cleared the Family Court by late April, and entered the PGN on May 6, 2002. We have been in and out (rejected) by the PGN seven times in the last eight months . The first time, back on May 28th, was due to an error in a document my husband and I submitted in our dossier. The remaining six rejections have been due to such minor imperfections as the letter "t" not being crossed in a signature from the US Embassy on a document. We just went in again for the seventh time on November 6th. We are praying that we finally get our approval, but we are losing hope, esp. of being able to bring our little girl home by Christmas. At her last check up at 18 months of age, she weighed 17.6 lbs., was 29" high, and her head circumference was 17.5". We are worried sick about her.
I'm not trying to bring anyone down, or make you lose hope. I'm wondering if you guys have any ideas of anything we can do to help our situation? (PLEASE!!) Our agency is Adoptions Worldwide in Louisiana; our attorney in Guatemala is Guerillmo Bosque. Thank you, and nice meeting you. I will pray for you and your (hopefully) soon to be adopted children.

My prayers for you. I was out of PGN in 2 weeks. So I do hope it is the same for you.
I don't know why it takes so long for others and my heart hurts for them. It is sad that many families have to go through so much before they bring there children home. To me it is because when the children are meant to come home they will. Much blessings to you. I hope your little one will come home before the holidays. |

Candance,
I am so sorry to hear about your case...it is HORRIBLE. I have heard of many people who have had bad experiences with your agency and your attorney. It is extremely important to spread the word, so that people who are just starting the process can avoid the same situation you are in. I don't know what to tell you to do about it, but I will certainly keep your family in my prayers. Becky |
