I recently mailed the G639 in to the NRC. I spoke with them on the phone and was told that the return time is around 4-8 months right now, which is much better than what it used to be. Over a year ago, the list was in the 80,000 range for those who were waiting and now the number is 15,000+, which may still sound like a lot but it's an improvement. Also, you can call and request a CD be made, instead of receiving a stack of copies. I decided to get the CD.

Thanks for this info, Karen. This is great news! I'm right there with ya'. NRC rec'd my request in mid-Sept. I called and requested the CD, too. I'm hopeful that may speed things up a bit.

If you don't already know, you can track your "control number" listed on the receipt letter/confirmation from USCIS (mine starts with the letters NRC followed by a 10-digit number). Just Google "uscis foia status check" and you should find the link.
