OK, forget the constraints of what is actually possible, or what is actually available at Wal-Mart (yes, busy single mom here!). All on their own, what did your children say they wanted to be for Halloween?

My DD2 said she wanted to be a horse, then got more specific: she wants to be the Old Gray Mare (you know, the one who ain't what she used to be - should I lend her some of my clothes?).

I'm working on managing her expectations on that. No toddler-sized gray horse costumes at Wal-Mart, ya know.

My DD1 hasn't said much about it. I think she mentined "Dora" one time.

My aunt made our daughter 3 princess costumes for her 3rd birthday. Belle and Cinderella are being altered as they are way too big. Snow White fits perfectly and she has been saying she wants to be her for a month now. She is totally excited! Gabbie is ALL about princesses now though so this wasn't too shocking.

My son wanted to be Spiderman, then the Hulk, then Bumblebee (the Transformer robot), then finally settled on Wolverine. He's totally obsessed with superheroes. Hard images for a single working mom to live up to.

Mollie picked out her costume a "princess" witch as she calls it! It sparkly and lights up which is totally her! She loves looking at halloween costume catalogs.

Owen was adamant about being a triceratops, so I ordered him that costume. It is such a cool costume--and we got it halfway on and he said, "No, take it off! I want to be a walking stick!" Yes, the insect.

Since then, he wants nothing to do w/the triceratops costume and has wanted to be a Blackcat (the high school ftball team his daddy coaches for) or a witch. Or a walking stick.

Bug wants to be Tarzan. This busy, single working mom is making a loincloth thingy to go over some grey sweats (no brown to be found) painted with muscles. Hopefully the dark will hide any glaring issues. As of right now- Bug is over the moon about his costume.

Marco is all about being Iron Man this year. I was looking for a costume for Dulce..of course so excited that I had my baby girl and could get all "girly" with her costume and what does she see but the Buzz Lightyear costume so yup, she is being Buzz and she's over the mooon everytime she sees the costume!

A walking stick is the coolest idea! I have no idea how one would go about being a walking stick, but big props to him for creativity!


My kids are spoiled rotten because my Mom will make pretty much any costume their heart desires. (I'll have to see what she could do with the walking stick idea!) My oldest (11) is GI Joe Snake Eyes. (Looks like black ninja to me.) DS#2 (6) is Superman and DD (5) is Supergirl. Her prized teddy that a Forum friend gave her on our pickup trip is dressing as a cheerleader. (I told you they were spoiled!)

Well my princess decided LAST year (yes you read that right ) that she had to be Pocahontas for this year so that is what she will be and my prince has decided to be Thomas the Tank Engine.

Ana wants to be Tinkerbell, Josie is thrilled with the kangaroo costume she wore last year.

I gave her a toy catalog one day & she loved the costumes and said she wanted to be Elmo.....that was all I heard for weeks. I thought the costume there was impractical for trick or treat (covered both hands & feet) so I took her to costume store to look for something else. We got bunny stuff there (hat with ears & nose)....she didn't want to be anything princess or bumblebee or anything else. Then at Target I found a far cheaper Elmo vesty thing & so that's what she was at Halloween party last weekend & today at day care center's Halloween parade.

DS has not asked to be anything but he will be TIGGER! That is for the few moments when he will stand for anything covering his head - save for a baseball cap or winter hat!

DS is too young to voice his request I suppose so he is getting mommy's choice--a shaggy, puppy dog which I HAVE to finish sewing tonight so he can wear it to the costume parade tomorrow.

I make Halloween costumes and sold them on etsy this year. I gave DD her choice of them and she wanted my strawberry tutu set. Well, she has changed her mind and now wants to be a skeleton. Thanks in no small part to the boy wearing a skeleton costume on the Yo Gabba Gabba Halloween episode that they have watched over and over and over.... So a skeleton she will be --but with a tutu. Whatever.

Clara is going to be Redboots the pirate from Backyardigans I ordered a pirate costume from Old Navy ( I got it on sale and I am shocked at how good the quality of it is!) We got a pair of knock off Doc Marten boots in Candy apple red from Walmart and presto! Redboots
