OT: If you live in Southeast Pennsylvania
Hello All,
Can you tell me what town/city you live and if you like the area? My husband may accept a job offer that will relocate us to the Philadelphia area. But we do not know the area well so any help will be greatly appreciated. TIA. Yvette

We are in Southeast PA and north of the city. There are great houses and in comparison to other urban areas like NY and DC, affordable.
Some towns that are lovely with good schools to consider: Ambler (Wissahickon School District) Jenkintown (Tiny Jenkintown School District) Other school districts w/o cute towns that are really really strong districts, but can be pricey: Upper Dublin Central Bucks A few other districts that are good with older houses that are gorgeous: Cheltenham Abington Best of luck,

We live in Bucks County - Holland. It is a great area to live. We're in Council Rock School District, which is excellent.
We have a very active Philly based Guatemalan adoptive families group called BRAG. They have monthly gatherings on the second Saturday of the month. There are over 150 families in membership (attendance varies at the events from small group to 150 people). The members represent all the counties surrounding Philadelphia - including Northern DE and South Jersey. It would probably be a great place to ask questions about the areas you're looking to move. Let me know if you'd like the info about the group! Good Luck!

We relocated to Doylestown just five short months ago and we love it here!!! The town is located in Upper Bucks County and is about a 45 minute drive from Philly, however, there is a metro right in the borough (city center) that is much faster, especially during rush hour.
The schools here (central bucks) are outstanding, one of the top ten of Pennsylvania. The town or borough as they call it is as cute as a button, reminds me of a Norman Rockwell painting. The people are so very friendly, crime is low (haven't heard of anything since I've been here. Oh wait, there were some pumpkins smashed in the borough the other day ) and the community offers a ton of activities from arts to sports. Yes, Doylestown is a little pricey, it just depends where you want to live. If you live in the borough, which is a beautiful area filled with old victorian homes, plenty of shops and many outdoor restaurants within walking distance, expect to pay a premium. Many homes are priced from 600K and up, up, up. However, there are areas outside the borough such as Chalfont, New Britain and Bukingham that are a little cheaper, just as lovely and close enough to Doylestown that you are able to enjoy everything the towm has to offer. Right now there are some very good deals. Newtown, which is closer to Philly, is also a beautiful town with a cute borough, and a wider range of prices. Yardley is also a beautiful area with good schools. Please pm me if you have any questions pertaining to any of the towns I mentioned or any other town you may have questions about. I know what it feels like to move to an area that you know nothing about, I did it five months ago. If I can help please let me know. Good luck Cindy

You might also try Springfield Twp - Montgomery Co. Flourtown, Erdenheim and Wyndmoor have some very nice neighborhoods and the school district is a good one. We'll probably be moving there when DH retires from his City job.

We are in Montgomery County. And I love it. We're approx 35 miles from Phila. We are Northwest of the City. We have excellent schools here. If you know the county or township that the Company is in, that would make it easier. Phila is surrounded by several counties but access to the city varies due to traffic. For example - we can drive east 35 miles to Phila in rush hour and it can take way over an hour. Or, we can drive west 35 miles to a city called Reading and it's 30 minutes. I'm sure it's like that around all big cities though. Philly is great though. Lots to do.

I grew up across the bridge from Philly, in NJ in a town called Cherry Hill, great schools and nice neighborhoods. Check it out!
