Sort of O.T. - need your opinion
Hello, let me start this by saying I need the opinion of other adoptive parents, and I in no way want to offend anyonne.
This has to do with the Guatadopt calander. One of the pics I want to submit of my son is from last Halloween. He and my DH went as Mr. Rourke and Tattoo. (we have a healthy sense of humor here and J loved it). They looked totally awesome and won the costume contest in our neighborhood - they go all out for trick or treat here. Do I submit it or not?? OK I'll be the odd one out and play devil's advocate.
Although I don't think it's horribly offensive, it might make me uncomfortable because I suspect that some people might find it to be offensive. It makes me think of the movie The Station Agent where a dwarf is mocked by people yelling at him 'de plane de plane' and laughing hysterically. I also wonder if a child dressing up like a little person might be offensive to a little person? I don't know. My barometer would be if I actually ran into someone who was an adult of small stature (maybe of a different ethnicity), would it make me uncomfortable to be dressed like that or to have my child dressed like that? If so, I wouldn't do it, but that's me. The accent? Another story...
