Planning a trip back to Guatemala?

We are thinking about heading back to Guatemala in the Spring with Kate. She came home last November (hard to believe it's almost been a year!) and we would love for her foster family to see her again. We have continued to stay in contact with them. What do you all think about traveling back to Guatemala with a 2 1/2 almost 3 year old? Is it too soon?

We would probably go back and stay in GC for a few days, Antigua and head on up to Lake Atitilan for a few days. Probably a week long trip.

Anyone else interested in going? Maybe several of us could go and stay at the same hotels?

I just want everyone's feedback on going back relatively soon. Would we be safe? I've never not felt safe during my 3 trips.

we were in guatemala (antigua, lake atitlan and irtra water parks near retalhuleu) in august for 3 weeks - and i can only tell you that we felt very safe and welcomed by everyone throughout our stay we always practice travel common sense (no flashy jewellery/tech gadgets on show) and didn't generally head out at night - but with a toddler (DD is 2 almost 3 now) we were early to bed and early to rise anyway - we visited with DD's family and my only tip for you is to try and keep the number of people in her foster family as small as practical (DD was a bit overwhelmed by 17 family members all wanting to love on her) please do go - and we used Rainforest Tours (Helmuth is the go to guy) for accommodation and transport - their drivers are very safe (esp Perfecto! he is a gentleman)

have a great trip - we did!

Our daughter was 2 and a half when we went this summer. She LOVED every minute and wants to go back. She loved meeting her family, traveling around the country and consequently we are returning in the summer.
