Ot...The Day is Here.

I'm leaving this afternoon (after bringing a cookie cake to my now six year old's class for his birthday). I'm headed to Chicago. Apparently I am running 26.2 miles on Sunday. Holy crud. What was I thinking? And the scariest part for me is....I can't back out. I have so many amazing people who donated to Autism Speaks in my teams name....I have to do it. Holy crud.
I'm so happy my team and I have raised over 15,000 dollars. I'm so happy to be helping to advance research and treatment for Autism. I'm so happy to see the smile on my girlfriends face--who is the mom of Jaxon whom we are all running for. BUT....I do not feel so happy about standing in downtown Chicago Sunday morning, when it is 38 degrees at starting time and knowing I"m going to be running for like 43 hours. I'm a little scared of that.
The "good" news is....I come back Tuesday and have hernia repair surgery Wednesday....so if my legs are sore the post-surgical drugs should help with that!
Thanks to everyone for their support....and if you don't hear from me again....just look for me in the gutters of downtown Chicago.....crawling toward the finish!

Good luck! My DH has run a couple of them, and the best part was the last mile, there was somebody handing out beer to the runners, to make sure that the last mile was the easiest. He really loved that part of the run.
Mind you this was in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
So hopefully for you there is a pick me up on the last part of the race.

Even if you walk the entire time (and I would bet you will be able to get into a groove and run it) what you are doing is awesome. For yourself and for autism Speaks. Good luck! And have fun!

Go Go Go

Good luck and Have Fun. I'm jealous. I used to do marathons (until inuries sidelined me permanantaly), and the Chicago marathon was one that I had heard great things about that and wanted to do one day.

From a mom who has a son with autism, I thank you for helping raise money for a good cause. Hope it went well.
