For those of you going on the Cruise

A few questions. Are you going to the formal dinner night? or just skipping it? I didn't see to many kid friendly shore excursions especially for little ones. I think we will just go spend the day at the beach when we are in Cozumel. What are you guys planning to do? Any other suggestions or special things planned? It will my mom and I traveling with three children ages seven, five, and four.

Hi Jennifer....

I'm going on cruise & look forward to meeting you & others.

I was going to take it as it goes with regard to formal night --I hoped by then to have idea about how my little girl (2 1/2) reacted to eating in formal dining room vs. more casual place. I planned to pack a skirt outfit for me & church type dress for my DD in case we decided to go.

In terms of shore excursions, I agree that I didn't see stuff that was very kid-friendly. My plan for Cozumel was to go to a beach club (I'm still researching which looks the most kid friendly) and spend day there....

Formal night nope we're out! Our little boy is 2 and we decided to just go to the beach for the day. This will be our 2nd cruise but really our 1st (the 1st we went on a company trip where the company rented the whole ship and no dress code) so I have no idea what to pack. IDeas??

Cruise activities

My husband and I will be there with daughter and granddaughter, Alicia. She is 6 and has been out to dinners with others many times so I don't expect her to have a problem at a formal meal.

As for excursions, you're right, there aren't many kid friendly activities but I'm sure that they will enjoy playing on the beach. We've scheduled a day trip to one of the mainland's EcoParks when we dock at Cozumel where you can swim, snorkel or just enjoy the scenery. I'm sure we will all find plenty to do once we get there.

We will be staying at the Holiday Inn Port of Miami on Sunday night so, if you're there too, look us up. Does anyone know if there will be a meet & greet that night or dinner somewhere? Looking forward to meeting everyone soon. Only 10 more days till Bon Voyage!!!!!

My husband and I and our 2 kids are going: DD (4) and DS (2). We are going on a glass bottom boat in Key West, and are currently signed up for a day at the beach in Cozumel. But, there are a few families staying onboard and hanging around the pool on Wed, so our plans may change.

I'd love to go to the formal dinner, and the kids would be fine, but I think they'd have more fun hanging around w/ the other kids.

I am not going on the cruise, but I hope all of you going have a fantastic time.
I just wanted to give some friendly advice to those of you venturing into the mainland from Cozumel. The ferry going to the mainland is a tall, narrow ship that MOVES A LOT. It is very easy to get motion sick on it even if you are not prone to getting motion sick, so please take good care of yourselves beforehand so your whole day isn't ruined. Totally worth the trip over (highly recommend Tulum and Playa del Carmen...most beautiful beaches ever IMHO), but it is difficult getting there.

Anybody else suprised at how few families are going??

I saw the directory yesterday and was frankly shocked....I counted only about 24-25 families. I guess I thought the number was more like 50.

And I'm also suprised that there aren't more things the group is doing together. Does anyone know if our dinner seatings are together?

Maybe I am just reacting this way because it has turned out to be a simply terrible time for me to get away from work........much more complicated than I anticipated it being months ago when I booked.

I'm not surprised. Usually, Guatoberfest is held over a weekend so more families can attend. Anyone with kids in school, or teachers, can't make it because of school schedules.
Plus, this is a fairly expensive trip, and it takes a while for most families to save up for an event like this.

I'm actually happily surprised that so many ARE going to make it.

I hope we can have dinners together. That is a good question I wonder if we are eating together. Also if anyone would like to join us at the beach in Mexico you are more then welcome. We are not booking an excursion just planning on taking a cab to a local beach club and doing some shopping at some point as well. We will probably not venture out very far.

We went ahead and canceled our full day at a beach club on Wed, so we can play in the pool on the ship and go into town and shop a little. That way the kids can still take their naps and we can still have fun.

we will be there. Dont really know about formal nite yet just depends on the mood my son is in and how tired we are. As for really dressing up that night, I wont!! I have sun dresses but anything dressier than that is not me. I am not a formal kinda girl and Isaac surely isnt a formal 2 yr old. We will also be taking a cab to Paradise Bch and hope to get lots of sun and try a freshly made margarita!!! See you all in a few days. Oh and we are staying at Marriott, using some of those pts from trips to Guatemala. Adios

See you in Miami trick
