Personally I think I would be more inclined to glue it. A glue stick or some rubber cement. Something that wouldn't soak into the paper.
I just looked at my kids' COC's and their pictures seem to be glued on.

After picking at my kids' pictures I can see how it might fall off. (Hopefully theirs don't now!)
And I can totally see some USCIS officer accusing you of altering it. That is why I thought glue over tape. Less likely to be noticed. Good luck!

The process to request a name changed COC is the same as a damaged/destroyed and in that case they ask you to send the remains of the COC as they are so you may want to just paperclip it together and send it as is. Otherwise I agree taht a dab of gluestick seems best.

Ryenn's was loose when we first received it. Now it's off completely. You can, however, tell that it was embossed or sealed, so I doubt anyone would accuse us of tampering with it. Good luck!

That is interesting! My kids' aren't embossed. Just the picture glued on. Maybe different issuing offices.

LOL---sounds about right. Don't worry, it's just a really really important government form that proves our kids' citizinship. No need to have it standardized for quality or anything. It must be different offices b/c Jorge's first one that was issued in October 08 after entering the US through Atlanta was embossed around his face, but his new one that came last week was not: just the photo stuck on the page. Is it just me or is this the very cheapest looking government document ever? I've seen Kindergarten diplomas with more advanced looking technology behind them. I'm annoyed that they don't do something more like a passport with a scanned image and stuff. Or at least some industrial strength glue sticks. ![]()
