Celebrating Independence Day
Happy Independence Day. I just made it.
I wanted to let you know how we celebrated. I told my sons how people run from other villages to Antigua or another village to light a torch and then take it back to their village(simple version). So tonight my 2 and 5 year old went outside with flashlights and ran back and forth in front of the house. One side of the house was Antigua and the other side was Chiquimula or Guatemala City, depending on which son was running (to represent their birthplace). It was really cute.

What a great tradition to start! I had no idea how it was celebrated there other than fireworks (which seem to be part of EVERY celebration and which my kids really really dislike) so we'll have to look into this and see if we can do something next year.
