N565 - Nebraska Service Center is slow!!
Wow, could the Nebraska Service Center be any slower? That's where I had to file DD's N-565 for name change COC, unfortunately. I checked the chart where USCIS posts processing info. for various forms, incl the N-565. The chart is updated on/about the 15th of each month. It lists the filing date of the last case processed on the date the chart was updated. The mid-August update reflected June 1 filing date. The mid-September update reflects June 5 filing date. WOW, truly slow as molasses in Winter. So it goes, I guess. I just filed last week, so it's gonna be a while! Here's a link to the chart (USCIS Processing Time Information for Nebraska Service Center), if anyone plans to hawk it like I do https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/jsps/Pro...viceCenter=NSC |

I have been waiting one year to get my sons COC! He came home 7 years ago and at the time they did not issue the COC automatically. The COC is being processed out of the DC office! I've checked and called and they have receipt of everything (don't need anything else), but there is a backlog!!! UGH!!! It is sooo frustrating....

I am so sorry Nebraska is so slow.
I just don't understand why Texas can get their's out quickly and Nebraska is so slow. Especially for the N565. It just isn't that complicated! The N600 I can kind of see (though 1 year is crazy!) but the N565, not so much!

I am sorry too. Waiting is the worst...especially when it is such an important document. We just got ours back from the Texas office less than 3 months after we sent it off. Maybe somehow the computer update is wrong and you will get it back sooner than you hope. I hope so!!

USCIS claims the standard processing time for the N-565 is 6 - 12 months. If your filing is past the 6 month mark, you can call the generic USCIS 800#, with your LIN #, and they will put a trace on your file. It will help kick start it if you are still waiting.
