Tantrum prodigy strikes again!

I know I've posted about my dd's FABULOUS tantrums before....but my camera and sense of humor and sharing with friends is what gets me through them. Here is what happened when her daddy HAD THE NERVE to tell her it was bedtime. Please note the kicking and flailing. Oscar for her, anyone?

(rest of pics on blog....this girl is hysterical!)

Bless ur heart for finding the humor in it. My DD never did the tantrum thing... But she is 4 almost 5 and definitely trying out the "selective listening" and rebeling against authority @ school! Causing for some tears and a wee bit of drama in our house lately.I need to take a page from your book and find the humor!

Wow

She's good! Now I'm frightened - my baby girl just turned 2 on Sunday. Is this what I have in store?

Here is how we cured Brooklyn of tantrums.....When she would start...we would say wait let me get a chair...so I can watch....and then we would say...wow is that all you can do...we thought it was going to be a good tantrum...or something like that...or we would say...wait wait...let me sit so I can watch this..I havent seen a good tantrum in a while...for some reason when that was the only response she got....she moved on...she would say....I am not going to do that I am just going to go to bed...and we would say....oh okay....if you want to....It helped for her not to be in charge of the tantrums...like if we were enjoying them...it took all the fun out of them...She is 6 now...and even yesterday when I asked her to unload the silverware from the dishwasher...she was like I dont want to do that...and I said...oh I understand sometimes I dont want to do it either....and anyway...I dont think you are fast enough to unload it...so I will do it...and she was like...oh no I am fast enough just watch me...always likes a little competition that girl! lol....she not only unloaded it but told me to watch how fast she could load it as well!

Wow

I think your DD and my DD were separated at birth, seriously. The kicking the way she puts her hands over her eyes. Is she really tall as well (like in the 95th percentile)??? This is something we may need to investigate further .

I feel your pain and I admire your patience - I am glad you can laugh at this!!

My 2 yo son decided today that he was going to tantrum. He started in and I told him that he wasn't doing a very good job. Let me show you how to throw a really good tantrum I said. All got VERY quiet as I showed him. Now, picture in your mind if you will a 53 yo woman, in a dress, lying face down on the playroom floor kicking, flailing her arms and screaming like a banshee. When finished I got myself up, hurried to the kitchen as my sister ran down the hall so we could laugh where the boys couldn't see us. Boy did he ever stop all tantruming for the rest of today. He even went to bed quietly.

Memories!!! How wonderful that you can find humor in a hair pulling situation. It is the age. My DS went through his tantrum phase and I only wish I had thought about taking pictures. I could have added a really good layout for his scrapbook.

Here is what we did to stop the tantrums. We invested in a kitchen timer. Sounds silly, but it worked at bed time and bath time. Five minutes before bed I would have him help me set the timer for five minutes. For some reason, when the timer went off he was more willing to go to bed. Same with bath time. After he was washed I would set the timer for ten minutes so that he could play. Again, the timer went off and he was willing to get out of the tub.

Maybe this will help. Stay strong and keep your good sense of humor.

Those tantrums look very much like the tantrums my daughter throws. I just wish I would have video taped her a few days ago when she decided to forgo the tantrum and threw her cup at daddy. Both of us gave her "the look" (every parent has "the look") so she closed her eyes to avoid "the look." We just kept watching her and when she peeked she saw we were still looking at her, so she closed her eyes again and ended up falling asleep. Who knew "the look" would be so effective. LOL!!!!!

Just precious - thanks for sharing. You know, if we can't laugh at all the shenanigans (but not so they see us - that would be cruel and unusual punishment) it could get pretty depressing. Just yesterday I had to carry sweet boy (all 34 pounds of love) up three flights of stairs because he decided he wanted to sleep on the front steps ... outside.
