Searcher recommendations?
Hello, I was a member here in 05 when we adopted our son. At the time, I remember some people working with people in Guatemala to find birthparents so that they would have contact established and not have to start from scratch if they wanted to find them later.
Does anyone have any recommendations? A friend has a client that would like to find her birth family in Guatemala and I told her I'd look around for info. If you know of anyone, especially if you have experience, can you PM me? TIA!

Don't mean to hijack the thread, but we're interested in hiring a searcher for our son's first mom. If y'all could PM me, too, I'd appreciate it.
Thank you,

I haven't received any PMs but I did search the archives and saw some recommendations to join the Guatemala Birthfamilies Yahoogroup, which I did last night. You might want to that to get more in depth info.

That is my suggestion too. I did that several months back - that group has great information. I was able to find a searcher and have a successful search done. There have been plenty of successful searches years after adoptions take place.
Best Wishes! Eva

having just returned from meeting with our daughter's family in guatemala for the first time
after 2 years of contact - i also recommend joining the yahoo groups - guatemalabirthfamilies and guatemalabirthfamiliescwhen you join be sure to read through a lot of the older posts - there has been lots of discussion over the past few years about various searchers, their styles of search etc You will find a wealth of info there - once you have done this then you can ask for the emails of the various searchers and make enquiries about searches/costs etc we used S. and we are very happy to date with our choice - but there are other searchers that other families are also extremely pleased with too - a bit of research at this point is well worth it hope this helps MK |
