White Spots?

My daughter is getting white spots on her cheek. They started about 2 weeks ago. Anyone know what it is or what caused it? It looks like she's lost pigment. I did a search on past posts. I still lotion her every day and always use sun screen. She occasionally gets small patches of excema, but it's never turned white before.

Sabrina had these white patches on her cheeks last summer. This summer she doesn't have them on her cheeks. but she has a couple on her arms. According to our Pediatrician its a common form of ezcema called Pityriasis alba, which is most noticiable during the summer months in darker skinned children. Basically the skin is very dry and scaly, so it doesn't tan. So it appears as white patches. Our doctor recommended using a "greasy" moisterizer called CeraVe, which can be difficult to find in stores. Aquaphor is also a good one. The patches will fade over time. For Sabrina, it took a couple of months.

Best wishes!

My little girl had those so bad last year. We tried prescription creams and over the counter creams. What I finally found that works wonders is Cetaphil cream, the lotion is very thin, so get the cream in the tub. I also buy a tube of hydrocortisone cream and mix it in there when i get home. I put this on her every night and her skin is awesome!! Hope you find something that works....oh, BTW I use the generic for Cetaphil that walmart sells and it works just as well and is considerably cheaper!

I tried the CeraVE cream also after I heard about it. I can't rave about this cream enough, it's fantastic for this! I got mine in the tub at Walgreen's. You can also find it online. This cleared up Nicco's in a few days.

I just noticed a couple of white patches on my son's cheeks this week and was a bit concerned. Thanks for the info.

Our son has this same issue. We took him to the dermatologist and were told it was "pityriasis alba" and to use CeraVe as well.

I don't if this will help or not but a while a go a coworker of mine from Peru noticed some white patches on Eva's face and told me that people from Latin America need extra Vitamin C to clear it up. Again, I don't know how true this is.
