Exclamation non-primary petitioner traveling - question

We are very very close to getting pink - finally! And of course we have another monkey wrench in the works. Due to commitments here in the US - primarily not wanting to travel with a 9 month old crawler! - I am hoping not to travel to GT to pick up Skye. Not that I don't want to go, but I need to look at everything that's best for everyone in the family.

My husband is the secondary and my agency is not sure if he can go down to pick our son up, even with a POA, since he's not primary.

Has anyone traveled like this in the last few months? If so, how did you do it? You can post or PM me, I'll be checking like a madwoman.

No we don't have pink yet, but it could some any time today or Monday. Obviously if we get it monday for a later than next week appointment, we'll have more time to figure this out. But if we get an appointment for Wednesday, we need to know ASAP.

thanks in advance
Shannon

I don't think it matters who is primary and who is secondary, as long as you have POA, a notarized copy of your spouse's passport, etc etc. I went without my husband last August. My SIL went on a pick-up trip without her husband as well. We were not the primary petitioners in either case, and at the time both of us were stay-at-home moms with no income of our own. We brought tax returns and DHs paystubs -- the embassy did not even ask for the paystubs.

My pick-up trip was about 10 months ago. Good luck!

DeeVee is correct. My dh was the primary because I am a SAHM. I went down for pick-up with my other dd. I did have notarized POA which they did look take. ALso, his paystubs, a copy of his notarized passport. Wasn't an issue at all.

Hoping to see your pink post soon!

Same here, we were home May 08.
They did look at the notarized passport (copy all pages, even blanks) and the tax returns. They also took the POA. I had no trouble.

Congrats & good luck!!!

My DH went to get our DD because I had our littlest DD here at home and we couldn't take her out of the country at the time (she is foster/adopt)....I actually was advised to give my passport to DH and we had the tax return and POA, etc. too. Don't worry, I'm sure it will be fine

Thumbs up Thank you!

Thank you everyone for your replies! I didn't think it would be an issue, but my agency is getting a bit hinky! I'm calling this Monday to find out about our pink - since they got DNA last Monday.

All your advice is so appreciated!

DO NOT take the actual passport. If you lose this or there is an emergency and the other party has to come to Guatemala you have a huge problem. Make copies of all pages in the passport and notarize, you'll have no trouble.

Congrats again!!!

Congrats again!!!

Strongly agreeing here. Copy all the pages of your DH's passport, and attach a signed and notarized attestation sheet ("this is a true and original copy of my passport", etc etc). The embassy will accept it. And your DH will have his passport should he need it.

Congratulations and have a wonderful trip!
