New CoC has an error: how do we get it fixed?
Well, it only took 2 months and I was excited to open our daughter's new CoC and it has a typo!
 I thought I saw a recent post from someone in a similar situation, but can't find it now. Anyone know what to do to get it fixed? TIA

I'm going through this right now! Unfortunately, the only way to get it fixed is to fill out Form N-565 again. You will also need to send in another copy of your Judgement stating your child's name change, as well as new passport photos, etc. When filing out the N-565 this time, be sure to check the box that says the COC is incorrect and tell them why it's incorrect in the section that asks. Don't send any money! If it's USCIS's mistake, they correct it free of charge.

Dulce's birth date was incorrect. We did redo the N-565 and marked the incorrect box. It was free of charge. All I sent in was her Guatemalan BC and a copy of her GC passport, both of which showed her correct birth date. They did send me a letter saying they would correct the CoC free of charge and I got a new one in a few weeks.
It was pretty easy. Stacy

Ours had an error on it too (birthdate wrong), so we did what the previous posters stated. Our agency helped us prepare everything to send in. It took about 8 months to get the corrected one back.

It might sound crazy, but this is kind of good news if you had a name change. It means that your name change will be free
