My daughter is 3 and I may take her there when she is 4-5. Last year I took her to Dutch Wonderland in PA and she had a blast. We are going back this year and spend 1-2 nights as there is much to do around there. Dutch is geared toward younger kids and it is a blast, they even have a water park.

Hi,

I live about 70 mi. from Sesame Place and have been there in the past two years. They have a combination of water parks and land rides but I would venture to guess that they lean more towards having more water rides than land rides. So if this is your thing, you would like Sesame.
I recall the that prices for admission were pretty high. I was actually thinking of skipping this year. You can check on their website since Im not interested in doing this, but I think it exists: I think you can get a two day park pass which cuts down the price considerably. For me Im too close to get a hotel so Im not doing this, but for folks further away it may make sense to do.
Sesame is nice, but I wouldnt compare it on the same level with Disney. It's a nice park but folks travel all over to go to Disney. I think Sesame would usually get people from the NJ, DE, PA, MD states. I personally dont think it's that exceptional that folks would pay airfare or drive across country to go to. There are other local parks which can serve them in their local areas.
Best,
Amy K, NJ

1. The show was cute, we got our picture with Grover. Ate a very expensive lunch in a cafeteria...it took almost an hour to get through the line. The park was dirty...very disappointed, it's owned by the same people that run Seaworld. (Doesn't compare.) It's mostly a waterpark.
2. Doesnt' compare to Disney, we usually do one Disney Park a year, while at spring training.

A friend of mine was on the design team for the park. I was sooo excited to get to go. We stayed about 2 hours and then headed off to a nearby small town and rode their train.

Did it once and never again - your kids will certainly find some fun in it, but I definitely wouldn't travel far.

We found it to be really dirty - dirty tables in food court - just nasty!, trash was overflowing and the people who worked there on this particular day didn't seem even partially enthused or happy. The worst was the parade. The people in the parade were terrible! There was no enthusiasm, excitement - we remember saying, "Did they just go out in the parking lot and get these people off the street?"

We may have just been there on a bad day. Nothing compares to Disney, but this was just so disappointing. On the other hand, I have heard great things about Dutch Wonderland!

We took our then 22-month old and 5 year old last May and LOVED it!! My sister and her kids also went (then ages 15-months and 2.5) and they also loved it. It was perfect for their age group, the lines were short, and the water park was perfect. We found reasonably priced tickets on the internet but did pay a little more for a character lunch...which the kiddos went crazy over. Unlike the other posters, we found the park to be very clean and the kids thoroughly enjoyed the parade.

With Sesame you have to go with the mindset that it is for the kids, adults will not get anything out of it...except the fun of seeing your kids have a great time. To me it was a priceless vacation.

We live in KY and it was worth the trip. We stayed at a very reasonably priced Residence Inn that was just around the corner and would take us back-and-forth to the park as much as we wanted. Additionally, they had free breakfast everyday of the week and free dinner M-F. We stayed in a 2BR suite with kitchenette for around $120 a night.

The park is only about 20-30 min from downtown Philly and the kids really enjoyed that as well.

I haven't been yet...

but plan on going in late July so I'll submit a report after that. I live about 3 1/2 hours away so it won't be that long a drive. My DD loves Elmo & I'm excited to be able to have her meet him (through character meal)...

It is expensive.....

My sister has a trip planned for 5, (2 adults and 3 kids) and with parking and not including lunch, it will run her about $250...... and they are not staying anywhere......

There are good coupons online and they have have a AAA discount.....

Sesame Place

Here's a local perspective. I live ten minutes away, and am doing everything in my power to avoid it. It is messy, and full of unhappy children. Waterparks can go one way or the other, I find--and for very young children, the combo of water, searing heat, lack of nap, crowds all add up to disaster.

My daughter is two, and I consider her way too young. Since I won't travel ten minutes, I wouldn't recommend traveling a distance. There are kinder, gentler ways to amuse your child.

If you are coming all the way to Philadelphia, I'd recommend the Please Touch Museum or the Philadelphia Zoo over Sesame Place.
