We adopted from Guatemala 3 years ago and didnt understand about the readoption process, we live in GA. Is there anyone who lives in GA who can tell us how to do it, do we need an attorney or can we file the paperwork ourselves. Please give us some advice. Thanks.

We are in Georgia and I know some people here have done the work themselves. I think it really depends on how cooperative your local court office is! They are not allowed to give 'legal advice', so you have to figure out what to do on your own. There may be some people on here who could talk you through the paperwork so you would be able to go and file yourself.

Personally, we hired an attorney (I can PM you the name)...he wasn't too expensive, he handled everything and it was a very easy process.

I am in GA and we did our readpotion ourselves in Nov. It was easy and you can certainly do it yourself. I am happy to share our forms with you (that were accepted!) and can help you with it! Save your money...you can do it!

I did mine and I was in Fulton County.
