Way OT- Time shares

Hi Friends,

I have some questions regarding time shares and wondering if there is anyone here who knows much about them.

I have three time shares. One is a 2 bedroom and the other 2 are three bedrooms. Two are located in Florida and one is in Branson, Missouri.

When I bought these years ago, I envisioned my family using these when we vacationed. Unfortunately, we have NEVER used them! We travel lots but usually end up staying elsewhere ( i.e- when we travel to Disney, I want to be onsite)

So now I am thinking I am better off getting rid of two of them and keeping one ( you know.."just in case")

I called companies that I have seen advertised on tv and they all want money upfront to list the time shares. Is this the way it is done? If I list my home, I don't pay up front.

I am certainly not looking to make any money on these time shares. I just don't have any use for them. Honestly, I have thought about just giving them away to someone who wants a timeshare as I am carrying the maintenence fees and not getting anything for them.

Does anyone know how I can get rid of a time share? If so, please let me know your thoughts!

Thanks,

Diane

try word of mouth; craigslist; ebay. A friend of mine has one near disney and when I get my finances straight, I'm going to buy hers. I have 4 boys and this will ensure we go on vacation at least once a year.

Hi Diane,

I am new to the timeshare thing too, but we've been searching for awhile for something.

If you interested, I would certainly take more info from you on the ones your thinking of getting rid of!

PM me!!!

I had 2 and then sold one. I use mine all the time and my mother uses the second week I have. I really like them because it's cheaper than staying at a hotel and you have a kitchen and room to spread out in. My only problem is the maintenance fees. Mine went up to around $1000 this year, up from $600+ last year. It will soon be cheaper for me to stay at a hotel. I'm going to use my 2 weeks for Disney next year. We are going to Gatlinburg this August with it. I would be interested if you ever find out how to sell it without having to pay up front.
