I'd like your opinion!

My 6 year old LOVES to play on the computer. club penguin, webkinz, pbs kids, etc. BUT, he gets so upset when I tell him it's time to do something else. I usually give him 30-1hr of computer time. Sometimes twice a day. I think it's great that he has the skill to be able to do these games independently. However, I want him to DO OTHER THINGS TOO!!! I don't want to raise a kid who has to be 'entertained' constantly. What do you guys think? He also is very aware that he is 'timed'. I heard him ask his friend "does your mom time you on the computer?" When his friend said no, he said "oh man, my mom does." (and not in a good way

I agree with you, I think it's great that kids can use the computer but I personally feel that they need to spend time doing other activities.

Too many parents allow the tv and computers to babysit their kids, children need to play things were they can use their imaginations.

My daughter is 6 and I went to pick her up from a playdate the other day and her 6 year old friends was logged onto facebook. I think her parents are asking for trouble if they don't at least supervise what she is doing on the computer. My kids might think I'm too strict and not as cool as the other parents but my house, my rules.

With my daughter if she whines and complains when I ask her to turn off the computer then she loses the privilage to use it the next time. With your son you could tell him that he won't be able to use the computer tomorrow if he complains when you ask him to turn it off today.
