Anyone interested in coming on a mission trip to GUA?

This is the fourth year for Project Santa and man this project has grown!! I'll be traveling to several locations in and around the Panajachel area to distribute clothes, shoes, toys, food baskets and to complete a service project. I'm looking for people who would be interested in traveling from December 3-13, 2009. You're responsible for your air fare and hotel room which is $15 per night plus tax including a hot breakfast while we're in Panajachel. I'm still looking into a place to stay the last night in Antigua. Transportation from the airport to Panajachecl is done by a private driver and is divided by the number of people traveling.
It's a really rewarding trip and one that will change your life forever!! There are no hidden fees of any sort because I'm just an adoptive mom trying to work with contacts in Guatemala to give back to my child's birthcountry! I have taken my children with me on some trips and other times they have stayed home due to finances. They will however be coming with me this December!

I would love to do this...with my husband and 6 yr old and maybe even my college age sons...Do you go at other times during the year or only one time a year? December the airfare is usually higher so I will have to check into that...I will check with my husband....Beth in Idaho

I was originally planning to do a mission trip in July but the cost was a little much 4 me.... This might be an option!?

So the cost would include - Airfare and hotel ( $15/night)... What about transportation while there?

Everyone is responsible for their own airfare. The hotel is $15 per night and includes a hot breakfast. I use Victor to travel from the GC airport to Pana and this expense is divided by the number of families traveling. Each vehicle is $90 and can fit multiple families in it. Two of the locations we'll be going to the transportation will be free. The distribution in Panajachel is walking distance from the hotel. One of the villages we're taken there by a rep. of MF and the cost if $50 and this will also be divided by everyone. To get from Panajachel to Antigua we use the travel agency at the hotel and the cost is $10 per person and it's about the same to get from Antigua to the airport. I hope this helps!! Let me know if you guys need any more info!

Oh and I usually travel several times a year but this is the BIGGEST trip!! However due to the economy this is the only trip I will be doing this year. I'm praying about spending 4-6 weeks next summer so I will keep you all posted!!

I'm still hoping to come. I'm praying that financing and other bits and pieces work out. If can make the trip, I'll be there for the first half of the trip, then fly home to be with my kiddos. I'll keep you posted!

Raquel, The BIG thanks needs to go to all the folks out there who have reached in the hearts and given of themselves to help the people of Guatemala!! So many strangers have stepped up to the plate to help make Project Santa a success each year and I'm just delighted to be a small part of such a big thing!
