COC Incorrect
I just received my son Luke's COC. Everything is perfect except my street address. They transposed two of the letters.
Do you think this is a problem and should be corrected or can I just leave it go? He won't live at this address forever, but I'm wondering if obtaining a passport would be a problem. Any suggestions?? Thanks!

Because it's their mistake, they should correct it for free (my daughter's had the wrong birthdate, so I got a corrected one) so it seems that it would be worth having it done.

COC Incorrect
I'm going through this right now. I received my daughter's COC last month and the part where it says the date she received her original COC, they put the wrong year. They put 2005 and it's suppose to be 2008. My daughter wasn't even born yet in 2005! For the past month I have been jumping through hoops trying to get this corrected.
My advice to you... definitely get it corrected! It's their fault, so it's free. Do you mind if I ask which service center it is that you are dealing with? Just curious, because I'm dealing with the Texas Service Center. Michelle |

I personally think I would try to get the passport first, before sending back the CoC. There is no statute of limitation on getting the CoC corrected (well, except maybe when he turns 18???) and unlike a birthdate etc, like you said, he won't have that address forever. The address on my kids' CoCs is already incorrect since we moved a year ago. I would try for the passport, and if there is a problem you can always get the CoC corrected at that point.

I sent away for an updated CoC, to add my daughters new middle name. They sent back a CoC with the new picture, but not middle initial or name. I wrote them 18+ months ago, saying give me my money back or make the addition/correction... I've never heard a word from them. I agree with the poster befor me... try for the Passport, then work on getting a correct CoC.
