Mosquito Repellant?

I need to get Kate some Mosquito repellent and have NO idea what to get her. I'm afraid of skin reactions as she developed a rash from the sunscreen I have been putting on her. We camp and spend a lot of time outside and we unfortunately live in a VERY buggy place surrounded by woods so I would like something to protect her against ticks as well.

What are my options?

Hi,

I make a spray that contains different essential oils, including palmarosa oil to repel ticks (rose geranium is another good one) and lemon eucalyptus to repel mosquitoes.

I've used All-Terrain big spray to good results, as well as Badger's Bug repellent. Friends have liked California Baby's too.

I just saw a sunscreen with bug repellant at WalMart called Bull Frog-I am pretty sure that is the name.

I still use Avon SkinSoSoft. Yet another indication of my age. Hey but it does work.

Johnsons and Johnsons does make a baby mosquito repellant, but I don't know how hard or easy it is to purchase in the US. I bought a bottle of it in Vietnam in August and it is great!

I just discovered buzz-off clothes last year. (My son was a bug magnet). They're pretty pricey, but I found an online source where they're not so bad (around $5 a shirt). We still end up using some deet around his feet (because he insists on the darn crocs), but the clothes are great. To keep bugs out of his hair (bugs love his long hair when he gets sweaty... which he is ALL summer long), I put a couple drops of lemongrass oil in it. I love lemongrass because it also seems to repel hornets.

Actually, I have a brand new girl's buzz off hat. If you pm me your address, I'd be happy to send it to you. It looked boyish in the picture, but it's definitely a girl's hat... It was less than $3, so I didn't bother returning it.

We use Burt's Bees Insect Repellant. It's not super easy to find in stores, but it's all natural and keeps the bugs away.

I sent a PM, but it looks like we can mention stores--just not link to them. It's Sierra Trading Post. The best deals are obviously in the winter, but they usually have them in the summer, too. I just checked and right now they have the button down shirts but not the tshirts.

I use the Avon product that has skin so soft plus a sunscreen. I love it. I can get sunscreen protection and a bug repellant at the same time. I went to an Avon store to get the skin so soft last year because my dd gets terrible mosquito bites and the salesperson told me about this product and recommended it because just using skin so soft may cause sunburn since it is an oil. I highly recommend it - I just put it on my dd this morning before daycare - it doesn't have DEET so no concerns about leaving it on all day.

If anyone is interested in the Avon products, order now! They have a special where you can buy one product and get the second one for $.99! Great deal! I ordered two of the Skin So Soft plus spf30 sunscreen.

We've used Burt's bee's and bracelets that Walgreens sells. Both work pretty good. I've also heard that putting a dryer sheet in your pocket helps, but haven't tried it yet.

We live in the mountains so we have mosquitos, and about four different kinds of biting flies, and ticks. The best repellent I have ever used is called Jungle Juice and I get if from REI. They have a website, rei.com.

Alright, can anyone tell me if I can get Avon Skin So Soft WITHOUT SUNSCREEN? Kate is allergic to most sunscreens (she can only use the Zinc Oxide type) so I don't want the Skin So Soft with sunscreen.
