Jacob is a "real" person?
I am so glad we TIVOed this episode. I guarantee I will need to watch it over several times.
This would have been better for me if it had not been a two hour episode but rather one hour for two weeks. Short attention span, I guess.

It was really awesome but way too much weird information way too late right before going to sleep. I dreamed about freaky cabins and bodies in weird places.

So at the end, was the Locke in the statue not really Locke? Was he really a disguised version of the man at the very beginning of the episode?

Since Jacob referred to the "loophole" when Locke walked in, it made me think so--because the guy at the beginning of the episode said to Jacob, "Do you know how much I want to kill you? Once I find a loophole I will."

Someone more perceptive than me please explain!!!

I think the "Locke" we saw go into the statue is the same guy we saw talking to Jacob in the beginning and that he found a way back onto the island. Meaning do yo uknow what I had to go thru to get here.

Also the ship they were watching come in at the beginning, I think that was the black rock? The slave ship that is on the island.

And remember a long time ago there were two skeletons together one with a white rock and one with a black rock? Somehow they were dubbed the Adam and Eve? I think that is Rose and Bernard. Is Rose and Bernards cabin the same one that Ben took Locke to and said was Jacob's cabin?

Is it possible the Locke with Jacob and the man at the beginning could both be Christian (jack's dad)?
The one thing that bothers me is they put his shoes on Locke before the flight. It only makes sense that at some point Christian will show up.
I like the idea of Adam and Eve being Rose and Bernard.
What about Aaron? Could it be possible he is some reincarnation of Jacob and he will need to be returned to the island?

Remember that scene of Carl being brainwashed by watching whatever that was? Well, if you play that backwards, you get “Only fools are enslaved by space and time”. Rearrange those letters, and you get “Bones of Nadlers may lay lost deep in cave”. Nadler was Rose and Bernard’s last name, and the bones of "Adam & Eve" were found in the caves (with black and white stones).

I was having trouble making sense of everything, but here is my husband's thoughts on Lost.

Jacob is the good guy/God/Aslan and the man in black at the beginning of the episode is the bad guy/satan. The man in black has the power to transform himself into those who have died. For example, Jack's dad appears to have come to life and now John Locke appears to have come to life. The man in black's mission has been finding a loophole that will allow him to kill Jacob. The loophole is humans. The man in black isn't able to kill Jacob, so while it was just the two of them on the island, Jacob continues to live. However, if the man in black is able to put things in place to get humans to the island and turn one of them against Jacob, they will be able to kill him. That human happened to be Ben. Therefore, all the things that have been happening in Ben's life to the point he killed Jacob were created by the man in black.

The problem with this theory is Ben's daughter who appeared to him and told him that he had to do whatever John told him. When Ben told this to Locke/man in black, he seemed very shocked.

Regardless, both my husband and I think that this is turning out to be the classic story of good vs evil and I think that next season we are going to discover who on the island is on the side of good and who is on the side of evil. With the ending espisode being the war of good and evil.

Next season (which is the last) is going to be awesome and the thought of waiting until 2010 (7 1/2 months) is killing me.

Easily fixed: Remember, when Ben was in the cave talking to "alex" Locke wasn't there (he was, presumably, outside waiting), so if the man in black's spirit had embodied Locke (somehow...) then he could have also had Alex's persona available, switched to being her in the cave, then returned as Locke outside. "Pretending" to be shocked by Ben telling him what Alex said wouldn't be that hard for evil/satan.

Of course that's assuming a lot about body usage and traveling between them and the powers that come with being the Man in Black (anyone else want to just start calling him Johnny Cash? no? Just me?)

I couldn't stop rolling my eyes and throwing things at the whole ridiculous over-the-top stupidity of the Jack/Kate/Sawyer/Juliet thing. 1. Kate is not a catch. She's whiney and screws up everything she's involved with and can't let anyone else give any instructions and just does whatever she wants even though that always ends up with her getting caught/hurt and having to be rescued and endangering the rest of the group. 2. Sawyer and Kate were "together" for about 8 weeks. That's it. Then Sawyer was with Juliet for 3 years. Yet he still would throw Juliet aside in a heartbeat and spends all his time mooning over Kate? If I were Juliet I'd be telling him to enjoy his little fantasy because if I'm not first in his heart after three years when they had less than 3 months, then I'm out. (That's a deal breaker, ladies! ha ha!)

I also thought about the connection with Jacob being God and the other guy being Satan. Today my husband heard that it is the story of Jacob and Esau from the bible. I'll have to look more into that...
I thought it was a great episode though. The best tv episode ever!

Oh, but you presume logic rules in the game of love, my friend. Juliet and Sawyer got together mainly because Kate was gone--if she was there, they wouldn't have, in my opinion. And the turmoiled, struggling attraction btwn Kate and Sawyer was powerful because it was so tormented and held back. With Juliet, Sawyer has been living a 'normal' life--not something he's very good at. He's much more at home with the complications of a relationship with someone who also is a mess--like Kate.

Plus, Kate is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay hotter than Juliet. And, you know, that's all that matters. j/k! j/k!!
