Super cute bi-racial family book: In my heart by Molly Bang

I was looking at the clearance book rack at the bookstore today at lunch and found a great book!

It's called "in my heart" and it's by Molly Bang. There is no reference to adoption, but the parents are white with light hair and the boy is darker Latino or Asian.

The story centers around the mommy going off to work in the morning and saying goodbye and as she leaves she checks her heart and finds him in there. She repeats throughout the day that he's always in her heart as she working, eating, talking, traveling, etc. And it shows him with his dad, them going off to preschool/daycare and switches to his perspective on the day and how he's in her heart while he's napping, building, reading, eating, etc. And at the end of the day she comes home and they do bath and bed and such and he's always in their heart. The end shows that in his heart are all the people he was interacting with that day: mom, dad, teacher, grandma (?), friends from preschool, and their cat (mom and dad are the biggest).

I couldn't resist it (esp on clearance rack for $2!). The last few days as I left for work Jorge has tugged at me and wailed "no mommy work! no work!" so I'm hoping this will be a nice addition to our reading pile. I'm so excited that it shows a family sort of like ours without being specifically about adoption, you know? We have lots of books about adoption but this one is just a family doing family stuff and it actually sort of looks like us!

Thanks - I found this on Amazon and bought it. Great idea to have bi-racial family books not focussing on adoption. Caroline
