OT: Disney EARTH movie reviews anyone??
My kids are so excited to see this, but read some reviews that made me think it might be a little harsh for them (in regards to animals dying). My kids are 9 and 3. Neither one is overly sensitive, but I am worried that Kate might get upset. Or that it might be really boring documentary type movie. It is Disney so I figure it has to be really good, and geared towards family.
Any thoughts?? TIA

We enjoyed it. The scenery was beautiful and the movie was narrated by James Earl Jones. They showed the wildlife in different parts of the world, Arctic, Antarctic, Rainforests, African savannahs, Jungles, etc.
The animals were adorable and it showed moms teaching their young how to live and fend for themselves. The only thing that may potentially upset the kids is how the animals search for food(hunting). There are scenes in which a cheetah, polar bear, other predatory animal, etc. goes after its prey to have lunch. They dont show the actual mauling but in one scene they show a shark or having a seal for lunch(the seal is in his mouth but he isnt eating it). IF you think this will upset your child, then you may want to hold off. My child was ok by it personally but she did ask me what was going on. I basically responded that animals "dont get their food from supermarkets like we do." So you may want to anticipate how your child will react to something of this nature. Amy K, NJ

Spiderman (age 6) liked it. He REALLY liked the shark eating the seal, thought the polar bear was sad, and felt there should have been a part "that told people how to keep the earth clean".
It is more National Geographic than Disney. But the James Earl Jones narration makes it bearable for adults. JEJ could make a telephone book sound interesting IMHO!

Hey Amber! I have been wondering the same thing. Did you ever go see the movie?
Sophia is very big into boo-boos right now so I am worried about taking her to see this too.

We did see it. It was very docutmentary like, but my kids liked it. My DH and I also liked it. Kate hung in there all the way to the end. There were 2 or 3 times when I would look at my husband with that "oh no" kind of look, but they didn't "show" the animal(s) being killed - just the build up to it (the chase scene part). No blood or anything like that. Kate didn't get it at all, and Jay was fine. He has watched animal shows before on Discovery channel KWIM.
** Glad Dmitry's heart check up went PERFECTLY!! We bought zoo passes the other day - maybe we could get together and go with the kids sometime.
