Posting here because you can understand---so grateful for DD & changes this yr (long)
Tonight I am very overcome with emotion thinking back on the changes this year has brought in my life. I live & work in Washington DC area & every year at peak bloom time I go to see the beatiful blooms. It's very crowded but I wouldn't miss it for anything. Last year I was immersed in the adoption process & went alone to see cherry blossoms. I remember being so scared at prospect being out of PGN & yet aching to be a mom. I stared at all the beatiful kids you see as you walk along & look at trees & wondered if I could really be a mom.
Today I left work early & took Jackie to see the cherry blossoms. She's just 2 and couldn't say cherry blossoms so we called them "flowers on trees" -- this year I was one of the people with a beatiful child that others were staring at (and some people even took pictures of her playing among cherry trees). She walked by herself a long way on the path picking up blossoms from the ground. She shared raisins with a little girl we met who was crying. She also insisted (after all she is 2) on walking up the many steps to Jefferson memorial by herself -- I told her it was a statue and she really liked repeating that word over & over. She also stared up to see Jefferson as if she actually understood what she was seeing. Every night as I lie down next to with her to put her to bed I talk about what happened in our day. Tonight as I was telling her what a great day we had -- she sat up and repeated several times with great emphasis "flowers on trees" and "statue" and that made me start to cry --- I am so blessed to be able to enjoy these simple pleasures with her. I am so grateful and thankful for all the changes this year has brought in my life. She's an amazing blessing and miracle from God. I am so grateful for the birth mom that I firmly believe loved her enough to want to give her a better life and for the amazing foster famly that gave her a great start in life. I'm also grateful for this forum and the great people I have connected with here. You have helped me to gain the confidence (and life skills) to survive as a new mom. I've progressed a long way from those first long days/nights home of no sleep and fears I've never be able to take a shower again. I can't post cherry blossom pictures yet of beatiful Jackie but here's a recent photo that shows just how special she is....

Susy - how wonderful to share the most beautiful time in DC with your own child - Jackie is adorable and sounds like a fun, inquisitive little girl. Amazing how different the blossoms look when you are sharing it with your little love.

Thanks for getting me teary eyed!!!! She is gorgeous and I can't wait to see the flowers on trees pics!
It is so amazing getting to be a mom to these little blessings. Thomas has started saying din-sore (for dinasaur) and then goes RAHHHHHH (pretending to be one!). Never did I think something that seemed so trite and insignificant could make me laugh so much! Like you, my little one is a marvel to me every morning and every night at bedtime. Thank you for reminding again!

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your post!
 SOmetimes in our crazy day to day routines we forget to just stop and "look at the flowers". Thank you for sharing this wonderful day and memory with us! My DH is from DC and I can't wait to bring Jess there to see the flowers on the trees and see Mr. Jefferson! Your little one is gorgeous!!!!
