Question OT - How much do I tip for Gymboree party?

I should have asked this earlier instead of waiting until the last minute, but hey, that just wouldn't have been me! My son's 2nd birthday is tomorrow at Gymboree. He goes every week to a music class there, and his regular music teacher (who we all really like) is going to "lead" the party. She'll also have an assistant. They do all the set up and clean up, plus lead the activities, do face painting, etc.

It hadn't dawned on me that I was supposed to tip. But when when the teacher phoned the other night to see if I had any questions or special requests, she mentioned that I could charge the fee for the party, but if I was paying for anything else "like a gratuity," it had to be cash. (It sounded nicer when she said it, than what it looks like when I write it.) So how much do I tip? Do I tip both her and her assistant? Since DS is going to continue taking Gymboree music classes with this teacher, DH wants to make sure we don't undertip.

Thoughts?

I have no idea but your post scares me a little....I just had a teacher from music-type class where DD and I had taken class do a 2 yr old birthday party. I paid the owner of the company for her services & it never even occurred to me to tip (and I'm a former waitress that prides myself on always tipping well).

What did you end up doing? I am probably an "over tipper" in most circumstances! If I had seen the post in time I would have said $15 to $20 for the lead teacher since you know her pretty well (if it was an hour class). Not sure I would have tipped the assistant.
