If Guatemalan adoptions would open...........

How many of you would adopt again??? I know we would. Praying for all of you still in process, and praying for all of the children that they may find their forever families!!!!!

I should add...that the whole entire process would have to spelled out from the first step and on. The new process would have to be a clear and structured... then we would adopt again!!!!!

I would be interested in looking into what the process would be like and the fee structure, but I cannot say I definitely would adopt again.
I would love to adopt a sibling for Bug, I think it would be great if they could share a culture- but knowing what I know now, I am hesitant to blindly say I would jump back in.

There is too much risk- just within my family- how would the process affect Bug, what if I ended up in another long process with no end in sight.

So, if and when the Guatemalan government says they are ready to start and post the rules and if and when the US government says US citizens can adopt from Guatemala again, then I will look into what it takes and know in my heart I will not be one of the first families signed up. I have no desire to be one of the families going through a new process first. TOOOO Many unknowns.

Love to you,
Deb

We are only planning on one more so if Guatemala were to re-open at the time we begin then we would most likely do it.. but it also depends on the length of the process and age of children available. I am not positive that I could 'do' another toddler. It's no secret that Madeline has struggled greatly with her attachment and I am thankful that she was an only child so I was able to give her what she needed. For now we're watching to see if Vietnam opens..

Shhh... don't tell anyone but we already know of a little boy we want to adopt. We are just waiting to see what happens next.
He is a sweetheart.
My heart goes out to all the children who are stuck in limbo. I hope of all their sake this can be fixed soon.
Everyone deserves a home and parents to spend time with them and love them.

No, I wouldn't adopt again. My DD is almost 2 and I'm 49& single & my best judgment is that one is the right number for me --- so she is destined to be an only child.

I actually got China dossier in before rules changed regarding singles but I asked my adoption agency to rescind my dossier (even though China's wait is very long now, I want someone else to have my spot so to speak).

Hi Missy!
I would love to adopt from Guatemala again, we absolutely loved Guatemala and the process went very smooth in our case. I'd hope that when and if they open back up, that the process will have been improved on. I'm guessing that will not be the case which is very sad, especially for the babies that need forever homes.

I'm with dac_cincy... I would not be one of the first to sign up! It would depend on how long and about what age the babies would be coming home. We already have two children with severe attachment disorder. I know how hard it is, and there is no quick fix and is probably going to be a life long thing. If we adopt again, and I'd love to, we could only go forward if we knew it were going to be a very young baby. My thoughts and prayers are with all those still in process and I hope that all our children will be home very soon.

I would REALLY love to be able to adopt from Guatemala again. It hurts so much to go back and do mission work and to see the conditions these children are left in. Orphanages are over crowded and those kids barely get the attention they need or deserve. I'm hoping that the program reopens and the children find forever families. The things that concern me are a lot of these children are toddlers and if GUA takes to long will they have a fair chance to come home?? It's so depressing to me!!

I'm done. Had it stayed open, my second adoption would have been there but then I would have missed out on my wonderful Medina. I've always known two was my number and now I'll spend all my time and energy raising them.

I am with you kellum5.... Shhhh.... Don't tell anyone... There is a little miss sunshine waiting for us too! Funny thing is, she looks exactly like Angelena, only 2 1/2 years YOUNGER! But, we are just waiting to see what happens... I will not start the process unless it is Open, Clear and Safe to proceed...

Not now, but back in 2006, when we picked up Flora we would have been tempted!

Our family is perfect, with our kids just 3 years apart. We feel as if they will be in "the wonder years" together.

This said, we have many friends that we've met through our grade school experience, who would be very open to adopting to build their families. I wish, for Flora's sake, that there were more blended families in our neighborhood.
