Do you have Costco where you live? We love the one we got at Costco a few years ago. It is like the Rainbow systems, but a lot cheaper. DH and I put it together, but you can pay to have someone come put it together. IOt is very sturdy and big. My 10 year old still plays on it and I can easily get on it/in it.

The Rainbow is pricey but it will last until your children are much older. It is made to hold up for adults to play on it. Rainbow Play Systems designs swing sets for every budget and yard size You may be able to get a Rainbow on Ebay or on one of the lists out there that have swing sets for a fraction of the retail cost.

We also have a Rainbow system. We were a little put off at first by the price, but I figure we will get about 15-18years out of it by the time our youngest outgrows it. 2 guys from Rainbow came to our house with the set and had it up and secured in about 3 hours. It is very sturdy-I have been on top of it many times with the little boys and just about every kid in our neighborhood from toddlers to teenagers has been on it. Also, from a durability standpoint, my youngest brother took my oldest brother's set and set it up in his yard once my older brother's kids outgrew it. The set will probably have about 20 years of use by the time everyone outgrows it.

I bought one last spring for about $400 from Walmart. It's really nice and the price couldn't be beat (I looked). The only draw back was it really needed stain which I applied this fall. It looks GREAT! Walmart.com: Adventure Playsets Pathfinder Swing Set: Outdoor Play

I'm just not willing to spend the extra $ if I don't have to. If I maintain this thing, I'm confident I can sell it for at LEAST what I paid (since it's assembled!).

We bought ours at Superior Play. You can look them up on line. I think they have stores in NJ, PA and DE. We've had ours since 2004 and it's still in great shape. We actually just went back to them and bought a tire swing now that the kids are older and a trampoline from them. I don't mind paying more money for the lifetime guarantee.

My neighbors bought a wooden one last year from BJ's wholesale and it's pretty nice if you want to go cheaper than Superior Play. It's similiar to mine. It has a nice tree house, slide, wall climging section and two or three swings. It's nice.

Go for the Gusto.... Buy A big set (like Rainbow).
We bought our little girls (at age 1) a Step 2 set with 2 swings and a climber over a small enclosed fort/sand box. We also got the matching Play house cottage, picnic table, sand box and teter totter-rocker thingy....It's all very cute and very sturdy but not good for kiddos over about 4 or 5, and for what we paid for the whole package we could have put a huge dent in the price of a big set....
Now with a 4 yr. old play ground package and 6 kids under 10 we need to get a bigger set....All this talk about outside makes me happy for spring!!!!!

Happy Swinging!

I am so glad to see this post because we have been researching playsets for the last week or two. Anybody have any experience with Gorilla Playsets? They appear to be very well made. We are trying to stay right around the $1000 mark or less, and there are one or two Gorilla sets that would work.
Thanks.

We bought ours at Lowes and love it.
They will help you find a person to put it together too.
This is our second one from them. We moved and left the first one. The owners of that house still use it and it looks brand new even though it is about 10 years old.
Both are very secure and sturdy. You can buy the items you want too such as a tire swing, different slides, etc.
Our current one had about 8 teenagers on it one night and it was fine.
Scary thing was, the teenagers enjoyed it as much as the little guys!
It is still like new even after that rough treatment.

Hi Alex,
We just got our swingset at Costco and the girls love it. I found someone on craigs list who picked it up for us and put it together, it was worth the price to have it installed.

We bought our second set from Sam's wholesale last spring (a lot like Costco.) It is huge and very durable. It did take my husband along with other people helping several weekends to get it all done.

Last year Lowe's was offering free delivery and installation on their back yard sets. Perhaps keep an eye out for that kind of deal.

BTW, like others, we sold our house that had the first swing set in the back yard and the buyers of our home paid us for the swing set on top of the price of the house, so we got a good portion of our purchase price back on it.
